Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Lead Flow Assurance / Process Engineer to oversee the quality, coordination, and delivery of all engineering activities within the flow assurance and process discipline. The role is pivotal in driving engineering excellence, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and delivering high-quality work within schedule and budget for complex oil & gas projects, particularly in pipeline systems and offshore field development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all discipline engineering activities within assigned projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.

  • Develop the Basis of Design (BoD) and establish the technical direction for flow assurance and process engineering deliverables.

  • Ensure technical integrity and compliance with internal standards, client specifications, and relevant regulatory codes (e.g., DNVGL, API, ASME, ISO).

  • Conduct and supervise engineering analyses including steady-state hydraulic analysis, transient surge studies, and multiphase flow evaluations.

  • Manage inter-discipline coordination and support resolution of multi-discipline technical issues.

  • Guide and supervise junior engineers, ensuring technical consistency and knowledge transfer within the discipline team.

  • Oversee preparation and delivery of project documentation such as operation philosophies, technical reports, procedures, and design deliverables.

  • Participate in proposal development including resource estimation, manhour forecasting, and scope preparation.

  • Support Engineering or Flow Assurance Managers in project planning, change management, and progress reporting.

  • Engage with stakeholders, clients, and third parties to communicate design decisions and resolve discipline-specific issues.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in flow assurance and process engineering for pipeline networks in oil & gas projects.

  • Proficient in analysis of wax, hydrates, solids deposition, multiphase flow dynamics, heat transfer, and surge conditions.

  • Well-versed in engineering software tools such as OLGA, PIPESIM, HYSYS, PVTSim, PIPENET, and HYSYS Dynamics.

  • Competent in writing high-quality technical documentation and presenting complex engineering solutions.

  • Strong understanding of upstream/downstream system operability, thermodynamics, fluid characterization, and safety/risk aspects.

  • Proven leadership in managing discipline engineering teams and cross-functional collaboration across project phases (Conceptual to Detailed Design).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; higher academic qualifications preferred.

  • Chartered Engineer status or in the process of obtaining membership with IChemE, IEAust, or equivalent body.

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery sectors.

  • At least 10 years of specialized experience in flow assurance and process design of hydrocarbon pipeline systems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and manage global workshare teams effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight project deadlines and deliver engineering solutions within budget.
