Business Development Manager

About the Role

The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Operations and Commercial teams to drive the company’s growth strategy and business expansion across the region, or as required. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting the company’s commercial and operational initiatives to enhance market presence and revenue growth.

In addition, the Business Development Manager will engage with customers and internal stakeholders to discuss and manage commercial proposals, technical requirements, and service scopes—ensuring alignment between client needs and company capabilities. This position plays a key role in strengthening the company’s market position and supporting long-term business sustainability.
The Business Development Manager must be able to prepare and present comprehensive weekly reports, including sales performance data, pipeline updates, key account activity, and revenue forecasts.


Key Responsibilities
 
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in line with company growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to develop long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct in-person meetings and presentations with key stakeholders across assigned territories to promote company capabilities and solutions.
  • Manage the full business development cycle—from opportunity identification, lead generation, and proposal submission to negotiation and contract finalisation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (operations, technical, logistics, and finance) to develop competitive proposals and ensure successful project execution.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify potential growth areas and strategic opportunities.
  • Support regional and corporate strategies by developing new markets and expanding existing ones.
  • Prepare high-quality commercial proposals and tenders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with customer and internal standards.
  • Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking functions to increase brand visibility and business connections.
  • Maintain regular engagement with key decision-makers within client organisations, from initial contact to project completion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Provide timely updates on business performance, including sales targets, pipeline development, and market insights.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of opportunities, quotations, and client interactions in the company’s CRM system.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and business planning process by providing relevant input and sales forecasts.
  • Contribute to marketing activities, including preparing content such as case studies, social media updates, and client presentations to support brand positioning.
  • Identify potential partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures to strengthen the company’s regional footprint.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the business development process to improve efficiency and success rates.
  • Support tender and proposal preparation by providing commercial and market input.
  • Achieve departmental and organisational objectives by meeting agreed business development targets.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven success in developing new business and managing key accounts in technical service or equipment-based industries.
  • Strong understanding of oilfield equipment, mechanical systems, or rig technologies (e.g., cranes, jacking systems, skidding equipment, top drives) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (API, DNV, ABS, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and operations teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
